「It’s a ➊Worrisome Life」
Oh, hey, watch that guy over there! ... Oh, OK, you see him. You know. I just worry. It’s kind of my job. I mean, there’s a lot to worry about. The world is a dangerous place, right? I mean, you never really know when something terrible might ... Careful! That’s a ... Oh, you got it. I just like to be sure, you know?
Hey, did you know that my kind didn’t even really exist until the ’50s? Well, not in the same standard way that we do today. What did people even do before us? They died, that’s what they did! That’s why we’re legally ➋required today! Not bad, right?
The funny thing is that my design has hardly changed in 80 years. I’m still just a ➌woven ➍strip of polyester, and a metal ➎fastener with a release button. Well, there’s also a ➏spring-loaded roller hidden away so that when you don’t need me, I ➐zip conveniently out of the way. Simple right? But strong! After all, it’s my job to save your life. And what do I get for it? Complaints! Complaints that I’m uncomfortable, or that I’m ➑chafing your neck. “Ooh, I’m ➒holding you down! I’m ➓holding you back!” ⓫Yadda yadda yadda. Would you say stuff like that to a ⓬surgeon? No! And I’m the one that might ⓭keep you from needing surgery, am I right?
Well, never mind. It’s just that sometimes people can be so ... Hey! Do you see that truck! ... Oh, yeah. You see him. ⓮Heh. I don’t mean to sound like a ⓯back-seat driver, but I’m telling you, if there’s ever an accident, you’re going to be glad I was holding you back!

「心配性の人生」
あっ、ちょっと、あそこの人に気を付けて！・・・ああ、そう、見えてるんだね。わかってるよね。僕はただ心配なのさ。これが僕の仕事みたいなものだから。と言うか、心配事がたくさんあるんだ。世界は危険なところだろ？だから何かひどいことが、いつ起こるかわかったもんじゃない・・・気を付けて！あれは・・・ああ、わかってるね。僕は念には念を入れたいだけなんだ、いいね？
ねえ、僕らは50年代までほとんど存在さえしていなかったって、知ってたかい？とにかく、現代のように僕らが標準的にあるわけじゃなかったんだ。僕らがなかった頃は皆どうしていたかって？死んだんだよ、皆そうなったんだ！だから今、僕らが法的に義務付けられているんだ！悪くないだろう？
おかしいのは、僕のデザインが、80年間ほとんど変わっていないことだ。いまだにポリエステルを織った帯状で、締め金具に取り外しボタンが付いてる。それから、ばね仕掛けのローラーも隠し持っているから、不要のときには邪魔にならないように、ピュッと片付くのさ。シンプルだろ？ それでも強力だ！何と言っても、僕の仕事は君の命を守ることだからね。それで、そのお返しに何がもらえるかって？苦情さ！僕が快適じゃないとか、首が擦りむけるっていう苦情。「ああ、僕が君を押さえ付けているんだ！君を引き留めているんだ！」などなど。君は外科医にそんなこと言うかい？言わないよね！そして僕こそ、君に手術が必要になるのを防いでるかもしれないんだ。そうだろう？
まあ、いいよ。ただ、時に人間ってあまりに・・・おい！あのトラックを見てるかい！・・・ああ、そう。見ているね。えっ、僕はバックシート・ドライバーのように話すつもりはないんだよ。でも、言っておくけど、万が一、事故が起こったら、僕が引き留めていたことを君は喜ぶのさ！
