「It’s All in the Name」
Thank you so much for coming today. Oh! You look surprised. Of course I know you. You’ve visited me hundreds of times — why wouldn’t I recognize you? You live just down the street, right? I guess some people think that I’m quite ➊impersonal. There are so many of my kind around the city, and I must admit that we all look very similar, but all of my guests are important to me. And I certainly remember my ➋regulars.
I like to think of myself as ... a ➌beacon of hope to people just like you. ➍At a time of need, you only have to find my brightly lit sign, walk through these sliding glass doors, and ➎here you are. I have relatives on almost every major street. Hundreds of my ➏siblings belong to the same family, and it’s easy to see the ➐resemblance: we have the same sign and the same ➑color scheme. Often, we even have the same music playing inside! There are others, of course, who are ➓competitors. And while I certainly hope you don’t support them, we’re all here for the same purpose. To make your life easier.
You have needs, and we understand that. Tell me, what is it that you’d like? ⓫I bet I have it. Ha-ha, I can’t ⓬provide you with a house or a car, of course, and I’m not the best place to find clothes — I’m just too small for that. However, for your everyday needs — a ⓭snack, a little oden, maybe a notebook or some ⓮household cleaners, or even an ⓯inexpensive T-shirt — it’s all here waiting.
